Argentina’s GMO Wheat HB4:

The US Food and Drug Administration has determined that HB4 wheat (drought resistant) is adequate for human consumption. This is a strain of GMO wheat developed in Argentina by a company called BioCeres.

This strain was developed in Argentina because it is more resistant to drought than conventional wheat. Although the strain is allowed in Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and now in the United States, there has been significant resistance to acceptance by many of the usual customers for Argentina’s wheat. For the current wheat season the major grain traders offered guarantees to buyers that there would be conmigling with the usual wheat crop.

Grains and Markets:
Taiwan was reported in the market for 45 thousand tons of wheat Sept dates, Jordan for 120 thousand November-December, Japan 131 thousand and Bangladesh for 50 thousand.
Korea is looking for a Panamax full of maize in October and Jordan will have a total of 120 thousand tons to be shipped on November and December dates.
Argentina’s maize harvest is being forecast at 49 million tons for the 2021/2022 crop.

Ushuaia:
Construction of the extension of the pier at Ushuaia is ongoing after a few interruptions due to financial shortages. Now the pier is 679 meters long. The berth once completed will be a further 80 meters longer. The purpose of this investment is to allow the accommodation of more and larger cruise vessels during the Southern Hemisphere Summer season.

Pine wood exports Argentina/India:
Three further vessels have been fixed to load pine logs from Concepcion del Uruguay, completion at Ibicuy.
Each shipment, including deck cargo amounts to approximately 30 thousand tons.
The discharge port for these cargoes is reported to be Khandla, India
