River Parana Draft Forecast:
Basis INA Report of July 25th and Depth Report of July 28th

After dredging at the shallow passes downriver from San Nicolas the draft has improved 0.4 meters. Dredging continues at other locations.

Grains and Markets:
Maize production for the 2022/2023 harvest is now estimated at 53 million tons, by some sources. The 2021/2022 harvest (still underway) is seen at 52 million. This will allow an export total of 38 millions for both periods, each.

Montevideo Container Terminal:
Terminal Cuenca del Plata (Katoen Natie) is to commence the expansion and construction work which will commence to offer additional berthing as from 2024 and be ready by 2025. The expansion will allow a maximum draft of 14 meters and two additional berths. The projected capacity is for 2.5 million containers per annum, up from 1 million today.
Another feature is that vessels will be connected to the Terminal’s electricity supply and so reduce emissions.

Today

Upon completion

Vaca Muerta Gas Pipeline:
The final award for the construction of the pipeline was granted yesterday. It now known that this section will be 582 km in length. It will consist of pipes measuring 36 inches in diameter for most of the length and an additional branch of 30 inch pipes. As mentioned previously, Techint through their fully owned subsidiary Siat will provide all the piping. Some of these will be produced in Argentina and others imported. Most possibly from other subsidiaries of the Techint hub (Confab, for example). As the traffic develops we will keep you posted.
